TO REPLACE OUR AGEING VILLAGE HALL & SPORTS PAVILION WITH A MULTI-PURPOSE, SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITY CENTRE.
Sometime during 2006/7 two of the village residents made the comment that the village would greatly benefit from better community facilities, something was needed to replace an aging village hall and a very dilapidated pavilion, and so a seed was sown.
A charity ( the ICA ) was formed to drive the project under the umbrella of the Parish Council.
A lot of voluntary time has since been put into the project, culminating in the brand new centre with the keys handed over on the 29th November 2013 and the first customers using the centre on 14th December 2013.
THE FIRST CONCEPT
After forming the ICA the first concept of what could be achieved was presented to the community.
Quote from Philip Peacock of Community Facilities,Cambridgeshire ACRE “In so many rural villages the key to community cohesion is it’s community building, and Isleham like many others has a village hall which no longer meets the requirements of its users, due to the growth of the village since the hall was built over 50 years ago and the expectation of today’s society.
Isleham is very fortunate in that it has an ideal location to build a new community centre and it has a group of very proactive people who have the drive and passion to make this project a huge successes, however, to make the dream become reality they do need your support and encouragement!”
